The Character:
Historic Shaw fell into a period where it was long a corridor of dilapidated store fronts that now, have not been left behind. Shaw’s development has been aggressive and impressive. Credit where credit’s due, the smaller & midsized builders have been significantly instrumental in taking the risks, and rewards, of Shaw’s infill of townhome and condo renovations, disregarding the development norms and producing stunning architectural results and innovations in use of space. This has paved the way for larger commercial development contributing to neighborhood diversity, and a host of new commercial neighbors to the community like Warby Parker and Atlantic Plumbing Movie Theatre, and historic residents like the newly renovated Howard Theatre. It’s the new Shaw.
